Their support is all USA based, but I've actually never personally had to deal with Brother support. So far they haven't been able to give me a solution. the Scan to Email FAQ - which uses SMTP, not FTP. I have to talked to tech support individuals at Brother and they send me to here: I created an FTP network profile configured to connect to that FTP site I setup, but when I hit start, before the document can even feed through the ADF - I get a Sending Error message. I connected to it a number of times with FileZilla so I know it is working. Setup a FTP site on my Windows 2003 domain server with anonymous connection. Been having a problem with the Scan to FTP. Not terribly crazy about the support so far. Let us know how it works for you! Glad I could help! In fact, it's already arrived and I'm configuring it now. It has all that I need and the compactness of the tone cartridges make it an advantage for storage purposes.

It accomplishes this bit of magic by converting the fax image into either a PDF or TIFF file and then sending it off as an e-mail attachment. An even nicer surprise was the 1815dn's ability to turn faxes into e-mails. By contrast, the 1815dn operates with standard ISPs, as I confirmed by testing it with the Verizon DSL home Internet service. In particular, they didn't work with most ISPs and required you to have your own corporate-style e-mail server to connect to. Most AIOs with digital sending that I've seen up to now have been aimed primarily at large offices.
The machine is a digital sender too, letting you scan and e-mail without a PC.
